The Textile Workshop Experience in Cusco Region

1.The Textile Workshop Experience in Cusco Region

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 118 reviews · 4 hours (approx.) · from $79Our pick

At Andean Colors in Racchi ayllu, spend four hours with Miguel, Paulita, Marco, and their team learning to clean, dye, spin, and weave wool. You will make a bracelet or bookmark, eat a traditional lunch, shop for handmade goods, and feed llamas and alpacas beneath the Andes.

“We arranged transport with the tourguide beforehand and extended our tour by adding Maras and Moray - well worth it if you have the time but it is a long way to go (1.5hrs+). The driver was friendly and drove very safely. The workshop itself was a weird and wonderful explanation of the process from animal fibre to finished product, and afterwards we felt we appreciated the manual process of this so much more. The guides were patient, friendly and helpful. We particularly enjoyed walking with the llamas. Lunch was a lovely soup and a basic main, definitely nice but not as spectacular as other reviews had made out.”

Expect a full day once the countryside drive is added.

“This experience was well worth it. From being picked up at my hotel and driven to Calca by the very kind and informative driver Pedro, you can tell how much effort and skill Peru Private Tours puts into this workshop. Delia and Naydiss did an incredible job of not just providing information on their craft, but also hands-on experience. They were friendly, funny, and taught me about local traditions and knowledge that I didn’t learn about in any of my other experiences in Cusco or the Sacred Valley. In my day at the workshop, I made yarn from wool, collected plants on the hillside to dye wool, learned (but sadly…”

“My boyfriend and I loved this tour! Lilyana was our tour guide and it ended up being just us until the very end when the other three people showed up at our last stop. I highly recommend this tour because Cusco can seem a bit dodgy and with a local it made me feel very at ease. Lilyana was super sweet and offered me a poncho when it stared raining. She also recommended a restaurant to eat at the next night which we went to and it was delicious. My favorite part of the tour was the last stop at the pisco making bar where we got to get behind…”

“I cannot recommend this class, as I never had the chance to attend. My rating is based on the poor handling of the booking. I arrived on time at the designated location, unaware the class had been cancelled until the hostess contacted the company. David then informed me it was cancelled as I was the only person to sign up. While I understand cancellations happen—I had two others recently, both promptly communicated via email, phone, and app updates—this company failed to notify me in advance. He informed there was an attempt to contact me by phone however my records do not reflect it. Also why not also send email notice…”
